Easter Weekend Trip to Skye from
Friday 19 to Monday 22 April 2019
Main map required is LandRanger 32 South Skye,
but you'll probably need others if you plan to walk on the way north (or south).
This is now a past outing. Like to read about it?
General
The 2019 Easter weekend trip will be a return to the Isle of Skye.
The proposal is to travel up on Good Friday and for those of us taking the day off you could stop off and do a local walk in the afternoon. Saturday and Sunday will be the main walking days and we will have good access to the local hills. On Monday there will probably be time to do a short walk before heading home.
Detail
There are a large number of walking options on the island. Too many to mention, but here are the headliners:
Munros: The famous Black Cuillin ridge
Corbetts: The Red Cuillin
Grahams/small hills: Marsco, The Storr and Hartaval
There are also plenty of coastal and low level walks around the island.
Travel
Travel will be by car to suit individual plans and arrival times for the Friday. Car sharing will be organised a few days beforehand.
Accommodation
The accommodation will be at the Skyewalker Hostel at Portnalong, which is an old favourite of the club. I have booked 8 places for now in four twin rooms. The bathroom facilities are shared. All bedding is provided. The price will be approximately £60 for the three nights, but I’ll confirm this nearer the time.
Those of you that don’t fancy the hostel, there should be a B&B nearby.
The nearby pub, the Taigh Ailean Hotel, is walkable from the hostel.
What next?
Please let me know if you are interested as soon as possible to secure your place. This will allow me to book additional places in the bunkhouse, if required. I will then keep in touch with interested parties and finalise a plan.
Look forward to seeing you in Skye.
